Schoolchildren add colour to local park

Schoolchildren from St Barnabas and Ashleigh Schools took time out to plant flowers in Whitehall Park, Darwen this last week. It was part of the Whitehall in Bloom initiative. The flowers financed by local companies and Blackburn with Darwen Council. As they grow they should provide a colourful welcome to the entrance to the park. St. Joseph's school have also been involved. Thanks to all concerned.

Road damaged in Darwen due to flooding

Watery Lane has been damaged again due to flooding caused by the thunderstorm that hit Darwen on Tuesday (7 June) night. The road has lifted as it was on a previous occasion. Lib Dem local copuncillors, David & Karimeh Foster have asked the Council to ensure that the gulleys are cleaned more regularly as this section of Watery Lane is subject to flodding and the gulleys are often blocked.

Darwen's 3 day market set for demolition

Blackburn with Darwen's Executive Board is set to approve the go ahead to demolish Darwen's 3 day market. The meeting of the Labour controlled Executive Board takes plave on Thursday 9 June. They are due to agree to confirm the demolition plans approves back in February.
