Immediate repairs to Darwen's Market not done

10 Jun 2016

In February the Labour controlled Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council was presented with a report which indicated that £127,000 of immediate repairs needed to be done.

Immediate repairs are ones that to quote the report " Urgent work that will prevent immediate closure of premises and/or address an immediate high risk to the health and safety of occupants and/or remedy a serious breach of legislation."

The Council when setting the budget for the coming years only set aside £75,000 for this work and not until 2017/18.

Lib Dem Councillor David Foster asked the question at the Council's June Executive Board but Labour's Cllr Phil Riley refused to say when the repairs would be done and could not say how quickly the Council would carry out these immediate repairs.
