Local Councillor honoured by Jordan Embassy

Local Liberal Democrat Councillor for Whitehall Ward, Darwen Councillor Karimeh Foster was presented with an award by the Jordanian Ambassador.

At an event to mark Jordan's Independence Day and attended by Britain's Foreign Secretary, the Jordanian Ambassador presented Cllr Foster with an award to mark her contribution to Anglo-Jordanian relations. Cllr Foster was born in Jordan and served as a nurse in the Jordanian Army. She has lived in Darwen for 38 years and was first elected to the Borough Council in 1992.

Commenting on the award Cllr Foster said,"I was honoured to receive this award. I am privilged to be a citizen of two countries and I am equally proud of both."
