Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron has written to Labour's interim leader Harriet Harman to ask her to ensure that her party opposes the Government's Welfare Bill.
Lib Dems blocked Tory cuts in Government and were attacked by Labour. Last night Lib Dems voted against Tory cuts but the Labour leadership sat on their hands and failed to vote against the Welfare Bill that will cut benefits to some of our hard working families.

The election has been caused by the resignation of the Labour councillor. Alan who has represented the area for the Liberal Democrats in the past and is active in the community.
Darwen Town Council website has been criticised for not knowing who their Town Councillors are. On their website it lists as the Whitehall Town Councillors, David & Karimeh Foster. In fact they are not on the Town Council but on the Borough Council. The Town Councillors are John East and Vicky Rothwell. They also list John Roberts as a Town Councillor in Marsh House when in fact it should be Simon Huggill. It does not even tell you when the Town Council Meetings are, or let you access the minutes.
The people of Darwen were given the chance to question their prospective MPs last night, ahead of the general election on 7th May. The hustings meeting, which was held at the Central United Reformed Church, had a good turnout.
