Blackburn with Darwen has seen a decrease in people claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) fall by 3.5% compared with a year ago. The deacreas was biggest for younger people with the JSA figures falling by 10.7% for people in the 18-24 year old category.
Many of the speed bumps in the Darwen area are in a poor state of repair. Lib Dem Cllr Roy Davies has campaigned for them to be repaired and now the speed bumps on Olive Lane will be doen.
The junction between Sudell Rd and Sudellside St in Darwen has become an accident blackspot over recent months. In the last 18 months there have been 5 accidents at this site. Following pressure from local Lib Dem Councillor Roy Davies the Council have agreed to improve the signs at this junction in order to make it safer.
