Free early education will be extended to 140,000 disadvantaged two-year- olds, and parents will be able to access the free entitlement more flexibly, under plans published by the Government last week. In Blackburn and Darwen, around 600 two-year olds are expected to benefit from the proposals.
Sudell Ward in Darwen is to benefit from the government's Community First programme.
The Government has announced the 119 successful organisations and groups who have been allocated money under the Regional Growth Fund. A total of £950m of funding will create over 200,000 jobs acrossEngland.
The government has announced they are giving extra money to local authorities for education. Blackburn with Darwen will receive an extra £863,677 in addition to almost £1.5 million pounds already given for 2011/12.
