Witton Park Sports facilities to have £2.9million uplift

20 Mar 2009

Liberal Democrats who control Blackburn with Darwen Council, in association with Conservatives and others are pleased that we have been able to announce a major improvement to the sports facilities at Witton Park.

A covered spectator area is planned at the athletics track that will accommodate changing rooms, offices and a club room.

It is hoped that the new facilities will encourage high profile athletics meetings like the Lancashire Track and Field County Championships currently held in Blackpool, to return to the area.

Schools and other organisations will also be able to use the facilities.

Part of the proposals include funds to provide indoor athletics facilities at the new Witton Park High School that will allow the Harriers to train all year round.
