Traders hit the tiles!

26 Oct 2009

Visitors to Darwen Market will benefit from brand new toilets opened today.

The new toilets have been constructed in the Market's annexe.

Market traders have given a special helping hand to the project by raising £300 for special tiles to be installed in the toilets featuring an image of Darwen Tower.

As well as all modern fittings the new toilets also feature full baby changing facilities.

The market's old toilets will now be removed.

Councillor Alan Cottam, executive member for regeneration and environment said: "I'm delighted that the market has these new toilets, with baby changing facilities, that will be fully accessible to all.

"The tiles are a very nice touch that bring a sense of individualism and help to identify the new facilities as being unique to Darwen."

Lib Dem Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council said, " This is good news and the result of a lot of hard work by local Lib Dem Councillors, in particular Cllr Simon Huggill. We look forward to the new shops appearing on the front of the market next year."
