Shock Revelations About Conservative Candidate

28 Apr 2021

The shocking truth about the past of the Conservative candidate in Darwen South has been revealed by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. (which is available on line)
They report that Mr Walker said in a post "Stabbing Corbyn would get you knighted in my book"
A complaint was made against him in 2018 but he resigned before it could be investigated.
He has since rejoined the Conservative Party and they clearly thought he was a fit person to represent them as a candidate.
The local leader of the Conservatives has refused to comment on this and it seems Mr Walker is not willing to apologise publicly for his remarks.

Liberal Democrat Candidate Simon Huggill says,
" I am shocked that the Conservative Party have selected Mr Walker knowing his past. This was not the only comment he posted.
He has also posted comments which seemed to support the politics of far-right extremist and ex convict Tommy Robinson.
Sometimes we say things which we later regret, but the right thing to do is to recognise our mistakes, apologise and move on.
When contacted by the newspaper all the Conservatives could say was we have nothing to say.
Is this another example of the Conservative Party not facing up to uncomfortable truths?
The Conservative Prime Minister isn't prepared to
• reveal the truth about funding his flat,(A formal investigation into how Boris Johnson funded refurbishments to his Downing Street flat has been launched by the Electoral Commission, which said there were "reasonable grounds" to suspect multiple offences may have been committed.)
• refuses to correct incorrect statements he has made to Parliament.
• refused to sack a minister found guilty of bullying.
Now we have an example of the local Conservatives refusing to own up to the past of their own candidate.
I will let you decide if you think Mr Walker is a fit person to be YOUR councillor."
