Rossendale Polling District Review
The introduction of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 changed the timing of compulsory reviews of UK Parliamentary polling districts and polling places. The next compulsory review must now be started and completed between 1 October 2018 and 31 January 2019 (inclusive). Subsequent compulsory reviews must be started and completed within the period of 16 months that starts on 1 October of every fifth year afterwards.
Rossendale Councillors have instigated an interim review, in addition to the compulsory reviews, during 2015.
The consultation period for the interim review in Rossendale will commence on 5 August 2015 and end on 31 August 2015.
We are looking for feedback on any aspect of polling districts and/or polling places currently used and invite representation and comments from interested persons.
Local political parties, Members of Parliament, Borough and Parish Councillors will be consulted. Views are also invited from electors within the Borough of Rossendale, as well as such persons as may have particular expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for persons who have different forms of disability.
Although the review is of polling districts and polling places, it is accepted that polling stations are inexorably linked to the review and comments are invited regarding those stations currently used and/or any suggested alternatives.
From 5 August 2015 information about the Review can be found at: the Council's web site www.rossendale.gov.uk; the One Stop Shop (Futures Park Council Offices); Local Libraries; and from Joanne Smith at the address below.
The review documents can also be downloaded from the website here
Comments and feedback on the Review should be sent in writing to the address below by 31 August 2015.
