Mill Hill 20 mph zone - too little too late

3 Aug 2013

Labour run Blackburn with Darwen Council has at last announced the introduction of a 20 mph zone in response to the Lib Dem campaign for a 20 mph limit across the Borough on our residential streets. The scheme will cove an area im Mill Hill in Blackburn.

Lib Dem Leader Cllr David Foster said, "We have been campaigning for nearly 2 years on this issue and the Council have been dragging their feet. Evidence from other parts of the country tells us that 20 mph will reduce average speeds and cut down accidents. Expert opinion given to all councils has repeated this message. Our neighbouring authorities are doing precisely this but Blackburn with Darwen lags well behind."

"The problem with this small area is that it will take over a year to get the results and the area is so small that the results will not be statistically valid"

"This is an example of the council doing too little and being too late"
