Liberal Democrats mourn loss of former Councillor
Darwen Liberal Democrats were saddened to hear of the death of Peter Lamster. Peter was a well known figure in Darwen and was a Liberal Councillor on the old Darwen Council. Peter was involved with many local organisations. He was past Chairman of Darwen Cricket Club and was a school governor both at Ashleigh School and Darwen Vale High School.
Paying tribute to Peter, David Foster, Leader of the local Liberal Democrats said, "It was great sadness that I learned of the death of Peter Lamster, truly described by one of his colleagues as Mr. Darwen. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Barbara and the rest of the family.
Peter was an example to all of us, of someone who put more back into society than he took out. He showed throughout his life that he wanted to help the community into which he was born.
I was privileged to know Peter for many years. He was a Liberal Councillor on the old Darwen Council, but his interests were far wider than this. The success of Darwen Cricket Club was a tribute to the hard work Peter put into the club and he helped to develop it into a sporting club at the heart of the community.
I worked with Peter on the governing body of Ashleigh School, where he also served as Chairman for many years.
I hope Peter's life will serve as an inspiration to others, that to be truly successful we need to be prepared to work for the good of others as well as ourselves."
