Lib Dems win seats in Local Elections

Liberal Democrats were successful in defending their seats on Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. Councillors Karimeh Foster won in Whitehall and Roy Davies won the seat that was vacant following Paul Browne's decision to retire from the Borough Council after more than 40 year's service. In both cases they won over 50% of the vote.

In the Twon Council John East and Vicky Rothwell won their seats in Whitehall and Roy Davies and Paul Browne in Sudell. Unfortunately Simon Huggill lost his seat in Marsh House.

Liberal Democrats establishes their position as the main opposition to Labour in Darwen. The overall votes cast in the Darwen wards in the Borough Council elections were:

Labour 38%

Lib Dem 28%

Conservatives 24%

UKIP 10%
