Lib Dems condemn record expense claim
Dale Mulgrew, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary spokesperson has written to the local paper condemning local Labour MP, Janet Anderson's continued record mileage allowance claims. Her is a copy of his letter.
For the third year running, Janet Anderson MP has made the biggest mileage claim in parliament at £11,996 after racking up 41,984 miles.
Once more our MP is top of the ladder for mileage claimed, and this is a hit parade she surely cannot be proud to be at the summit of?
This is even more shameful when you realise there are so many MPs who live further away from London than Janet Anderson, and some of them probably use the car as their chosen mode of transport, yet still Janet comes out on top?
'The long and Winding road' must be the favoured tune in the car of our MP, as certainly the amount of miles totalled seems to indicate that she must not be using a very direct route to Westminster?
But from my perspective her excuses not to use the train as a greener mode of transport is pretty poor. As far as I am concerned, if she has no confidence in train operators, train schedules, or train punctuality, than surely she is the person who should be doing something about it? What about the people of Darwen who have to use this mode of transport?
It proves once more how out of touch Janet Anderson has become with her electorate.
