LIB DEM PPC ADDS HIS NAME TO 10 DOWNING STREET PETITION

9 Feb 2009

The campaign to save leisure in Rossendale is gearing up through a Downing Street online petition.

Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate dale Mulgrew was more than willing to add his name to what is a growing list that has already well over 500 names and is ever rising.

He commented, 'I was pleased to sign up to this petition; and this is only part of what is swiftly becoming a groundswell of opinion voicing total derision throughout Rossendale at the Council's proposals to shut leisure facilities. '

'This petition is another demonstration of public support for the campaign and is important as it will go direct to the office of the Prime Minister.'

'I am astonished that we have got ourselves into this hole and even more interested to question why the Council would ever consider removing public access to leisure? Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to join private leisure clubs - something which the ruling group seems unable to comprehend.'

'There are only a few weeks left for this Downing Street petition, so I urge everyone to play their small part and register your support for the preservation of Rossendale's leisure facilities.'
