Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesman, Dale Mulgrew, appointed to North West Heritage Board
Rossendale and Darwen's LibDem Parliamentary spokesman - Dale Mulgrew, has been successfully appointed to the board of the Heritage Trust for the North West . The Trust seeks to find new appropriate uses for historic buildings and encourages good design and craftsmanship. It also aims to restore and retain buildings driving rental income for them.
Mr Mulgrew recently met with John Miller - Chief Executive of the Heritage Trust for the North West - at the Pendle Heritage Centre to discuss his new role and also what the Trust has to offer both Rossendale and Darwen.
Mr Mulgrew said: "It was really interesting to pop over to the Pendle Heritage Centre - a fine restoration success in its own right - to meet up with John and hear about the really fascinating conservation work his organisation is up to across the North West . The restoration work that has recently been carried out by the Trust in places such as Higherford Mill in Nelson and Bank Hall in Wigan is simply astonishing and has really brought new life to the surrounding areas."
"As a new trustee on the Heritage Trust for the North West I will be examining what projects within the constituency could be considered for assistance from this organisation. I know that John is already in contact with the Rossendale Civic Trust about looking at a local project."
"The Heritage Trust has done some magnificent work saving many precious historic buildings that have great attachment to the community where they belong, as they often reflect the character and heritage of the area. I know that they will continue to offer this valuable assistance to salvage once splendid buildings which have fallen into decay."
