Liberal Democrats have welcomed the news that Darwen Rail Station is to be improved. Lib Dem Cllr. David Foster said, we have campaigned to get facilities improved for some time. In particular there are no facilities to inform passengers about when trains are due and of any delays. This has meant that passengers have been left on the platfroms not knowing when a train will arrive.

The plans which will cost in the region of £400,000 include:

  • Train information displays
  • Larger waiting shelters which will have seats and lighting
  • Improved facilities for disabled passengers
  • Improved CCTV security
  • Environmental improvements
  • Automatic ticket machines
  • Cycle storage
