Futue of Post Offices secured
The future of post offices up and down the country has been secured thanks to Liberal Democrat action in Government.
Ed Davey has today (Tuesday) announced a new long-term deal between the Post Office and the Royal Mail, signing of a ten-year deal. The deal between the two companies gives additional certainty to subpostmasters across the UK.
The Coalition is protecting the 11,000+ post offices, after a more than a decade of Labour closure. Under Labour more than 7,000 post offices were closed - 38% of the network.
On coming to office, we found a demoralised Post Office, still losing substantial sums despite years of cutbacks and closures. Ed Davey has lead a radical plan to transform Post Office's future, with £1.34 billion of Government support and investment but without any closure programmes.
