"For Darwen" Councillor quits Darwen

20 Oct 2010

A Councillor who was elected on a campaign of supporting Darwen has admitted that he no longer lives in the town. Cllr. Phil Jones who represents the Marsh House Ward on both the Borough and Town Council now lives in Hyndburn.

Commenting on the move Lib Dem Leader Cllr. David Foster said, "It is ironic that a Councillor who says he feels passionately about Darwen cannot be bothered to live in the town he cares so much about. I think Cllr. Jones should think through his priorities and if he cannot bring himself to live here should consider resigning from the Town Council."
