Ellerslie, Bury Fold Lane, Darwen - amended plans submitted

24 May 2016

Plans to build over 20 houses in the grounds of Ellerslie, a large house off Bury Fold Lane in Darwen have been amended. Plans were submitted in the Autumn last year and were strongly opposed by local residents and local councillors.

The applicants have now submitted amended plans which include widening part of Bury Fold Lane, pushing back the retaining wall.

Commenting on the changes local Lib Dem Councillor David Foster said, "While this may alleviate some of the problems caused by increased traffic on one setion of Bury Fold Lane there is still a problem in other parts of the lane where the road cannot be widened. We are holding a public meeting on Wednesday 1 Jun at 6:00 pm at Bolton Rd United Reformed Church so local people can discuss the changes and question council officers about it."
