Whitehall Liberal Democrat Councillors David & Karimeh Foster have managed to save the War Memorial from outside the former Park Rd Methodist Church from going to Staffordshire. There appeared to be little interest from the Council in keeping the memorial in the town and it was in danger of going down south.

When the problem was brought to the councillors attention Cllr. Karimeh Foster persuaded the Council to keep it in the town. She said:

"I am pleased we have a commitment from the Council to keep it in Darwen."

The Army moved the memorial to a safe storage area and the Council are looking to erect it probably near the town memorial in Bold Venture Park
