Cllr. David Foster, welcoming the inclusivity of Darwen's new Leisure Centre

The recently opened Darwen Leisure Centre is setting an example for social inclusion. The centre which opened on 29 January 2010 has had £300,000 spent on making it accessible for people with disabilities. In addition the Cafe will also provide learning opportunities for those with learning difficulties.

Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Adult Social care, Cllr. David Foster said," It is important that when we design and develop facilities we try to ensure they are accessible to as many people as possible. The extra funding put into this project by our Social Services department has allowed this to happen and the training facilities offered by the cafe will also help people with learning difficulties into employment."
