Bin collections to resume from Thursday, January 14

14 Jan 2010

Bin collections will return to normal tomorrow, Thursday, in Blackburn with Darwen Council - weather permitting.

The improvement in the weather and the lack of further snow being forecast means that the bin crews can go back onto their normal rounds. It may take longer for the bin crews to get round as some areas are still inaccessible but they will be working hard to get round as many homes as possible.

Residents are still being advised, where they can, to bring their bins to the end of cul-de-sacs and back streets for 7.30am on their collection day.

Residents are urged to go back to their normal collection day, particularly for their recycling bins which are collected on fortnightly basis.

The Council is aware that many residents may still have a back log of rubbish but the recycling crews cannot collect rubbish over the two weekly rounds in just one week. We are also asking residents to not contaminate their recycling bins with non-recyclable materials.

People are assured that all the bags they put out will be taken away on their next collection date.

Brown bin collections will continue to be suspended for next week.
