BBC say Blackburn with Darwen - "Lowest Council Tax increase in North West"

The BBC's local news show North West Tonight has announced that Blackburn with Darwen's Council Tax increase is the lowest in the North West at 1.95%. This compares with an average increase of 3.3% across the region.

Lib Dem Group Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council , Cllr David Foster said, "We are pleased that together with our partners in the ruling partnership we have been able to deliver top quality service and value for money. The Audit Commission have recently rated us a 4 star authority and we are determined to use our local resident's money wisely. This will be a difficult year for the Council as we try and help local people and the local economy through the financial crisis."
