£3/4 million wasted by Labour on failed Police Merger

9 Sep 2006

Following questions from the local Liberal Democrats the Police Authority revealed that nearly £3/4 million pounds had been spent on preparing for the merger between Lancashire and Cumbria Police forces. This was being forced on Authorities Autjorities by the Labour Government. The government then did a U-turn and halted the mergers. Now taxpayers will have to foot the bill. This money could have been used to increase front-line policing instead of being wasted on this pointless exercise.
